A North Vancouver domestic cat named Tiger makes the TikTok headline by winning a confrontation with a much larger black bear.

Gavin and Cameron Sturrock are rarely surprised by the behavior of a 2-year-old Bengal cat.

Tigger is known for stopping dogs in the Canyon Heights district, sparring with his cat brother Taz, and stealing chickens from his family’s kitchen.

But on June 21, Tigger shocked the Starrock brothers.

“Literally, I was just frozen,” Cameron recalled on Friday.

Gavin said he was carrying two boxes of nerf guns and guards from his house in preparation for a nerf war camp trip when he was involved in a driveway battle.

The big black bear he saw before is back.

“I didn’t notice it right away, but my little cat was just like – he was here,” Gavin said.

And Tigger wasn’t afraid.

“He was two feet away from this bear,” Gavin told Global News on Friday.

“I was surprised, what a hell this bear is going to eat my cat now.”

Gavin said he called Tigger and when the cat didn’t listen to him, he took out his phone and started recording.

“Tiger is back, Tiger …” Gavin listens to the narration in a video of the encounter he posted on TikTok.

Tigger can be seen walking towards the bear with his back bent. The bear goes back and runs away.

“I saw a cat chasing a bear, but there was nothing I could do about it,” Cameron said.

Chasing Tigger, the animal escaped from the backyard and hasn’t returned since.

Not bad for the cats that the brothers claim. He has already deceived death once.

“He had FIP, a disease called feline infectious peritonitis,” Gavin said.

“It’s basically a death sentence.”

With medicines and injections, Gavin said Tigger was able to defeat the viral illness.
